Salento BirdFair
Ancestral Essence:

Welcome to the second edition of the Salento BirdFair! Where nature, culture, and memory soar together.

We’re thrilled to welcome you to the second edition of the Salento BirdFair in the magical town of Salento, Colombia.

In the heart of Quindío, amidst páramos, mountains, and cloud forests, a unique gathering blooms: the Salento BirdFair 2025. Here, the wisdom of the land, the memory of its people, and the sacred flight of birds come together to guide us toward a more conscious and connected future.

Here, every dawn chorus tells ancient stories. Every trail is a path of learning. Every guide, a weaver of knowledge. Because we understand that birdwatching is not only a natural experience, but also an act of reverence—a connection to ancestry and a profound respect for life.

In this edition, we celebrate diversity in all its forms:
🕊️ Biodiversity as the sacred expression of the Earth
🌿 The living culture that weaves together generations and territories
🔥 The spirituality that honors and protects what sustains us

The Condoritos Club, our young Guardians of the Birds, lead with enthusiasm and commitment, reminding us that the future is already here—flying with clean wings and an awakened heart.

Come to listen, to learn, to share, and to celebrate.
At Salento BirdFair 2025, we recognize that ancestral wisdom is a map guiding us toward the future we wish to build.

Conservation

Birds have always been masters of balance: guardians of ecosystems, messengers between worlds, and spiritual symbols for many ancestral cultures. Their presence in myths, rituals, and traditional knowledge speaks of a deep relationship between Indigenous communities and the nature that surrounds them.

In this edition of the Salento BirdFair – Ancestral Essence, the academic component will be a space to explore that sacred connection from a contemporary and urgent perspective: conservation as an act of memory, respect, and continuity.
Through conferences and dialogues, we will delve into how Indigenous worldviews recognize birds as allies in the care of the land, how their songs live on in the music and oral traditions of the people, and how this traditional knowledge can strengthen today’s strategies for biodiversity protection.

This conversation is enriched by the enthusiasm of the Condoritos Club, young Guardians of the Birds who lead with commitment, tenderness, and action. Their participation shows that conservation is also inherited, nurtured, and lived from childhood, with clear sight and an awakened heart.

In this gathering, science walks alongside spirit, knowledge is heard through many voices, and the future is built with deep roots and open wings.
